How to update an existing LiveZilla server?

In order to update an existing LiveZilla (Server) installation follow the steps below. Read this carefully and don't skip any step:

Always create a backup before initiating the update process!

Backup all LiveZilla server files and the whole LiveZilla MySQL database.


1. Download the latest LiveZilla version from here.
2. Once you have downloaded the setup install it on your local computers.
3. Start the LiveZilla Server Admin on (one of) the computer(s) where the update has been installed.
4. Select "Update existing LiveZilla Server" and choose the Server Profile of the LiveZilla Server you want to update.
5. Follow the wizard until you reach the FTP inputs page and enter your FTP login details.
6. Select the folder of your initial LiveZilla installation.
Please don't skip this step and make sure that you have selected the folder of your initial installation as target folder. Do not select another folder.
7. Upload the files, run a server test and validate the URL of your server.

Common problems:

Problem: You cannot login after updating your server. The client is telling you that the server and client versions do not match.
Solution: You have uploaded your update files to the wrong folder. See step 6 above. Update again and select the right folder.
